How to write a cover letter for a job & how to reduce word count
In this video, we look at two of your questions relating to writing a cover letter.
We begin with general tips:
🔑 Not more than 1 page
🔑 Do not summarize the resume Add or expand on items in the resume if worthwhile
🔑 How can you help the company?
Sell yourself for the position, the company
(what you offer, what skills/expertise you bring with you/ accomplishments/etc.)
🔑 Show the employer you chose them for a reason (not just to get a job)
🔑 Be confident but not arrogant
🔑 Be passionate but not desperate
🔑 Be ambitious but not fanatical
Cover letter format:
🧾 Salutation
🧾 Intro--Get to the point quickly. If can start with a hook, do so, but don’t force it
🧾 Body 1 background—why/how you have what they need
🧾 Body 2 show you know the company and are a good fit for their needs
🧾 Leave opportunity for further communication
🧾 Closing, sign-off
Tips to reduce word count:

Tip 2: Have dense sentences
