Amazing Teams = Amazing Crisis Responses

Seniors Care is on the front line in the fight to stop the spread of COVID-19. For the women and men who provide health services to seniors no matter where they are in the spectrum of care, they had to respond, adjust and innovate quickly, which they did.

At the BC Care Providers Association that meant the 13 people who support a variety of organizations teamed up with Safe Care BC staff and everyone literally took on a new job. Those jobs became a coordinated effort to respond to a fluid and rapidly changing healthcare environment. At first, the pace was frantic, however, the team quickly got to work on solving the issues as they arose.

Now five to six weeks later, the team has pulled together and delivered exceptional results. Along the way, despite being remotely connected, the team has bonded and grown in ways that will ensure they are successful in responding to the crisis and beyond.

BC Care Providers Assn. CEO, Daniel Fontaine says, “we have end of day meetings at 4 pm everyday and I have staff telling me they really like it and may not want to go back to the old ways. Add to that, there are skill sets you’re going to learn that you would never have been able to realize any other way. I think there will components of this experience that will live long past a cure for the pandemic”

We invited Daniel Fontaine of the BC Care Provides Association to join us to discuss why a highly dedicated and empowered team is necessary when stepping up to meet these challenging times.
