Shared Prosperity: Delbert Wapass on buying the Trans Mountain Pipeline

According to the Delbert Wapass, there is a pipeline to reconciliation – and that is to purchase the Trans Mountain Pipeline (TMX). The purchase will also be a path to prosperity. Wapass says, “If we succeed in buy TMX on behalf of our indiginious partners, then revenue can begin to flow into an innovative Sovereign Wealth and Reconciliation Fund.”

The project is seeking to purchase 51 percent of the pipeline on behalf of indigenous communities in BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan that were invited to participate. Wapass believes the purchase will “be a game changer” that will provide economic sovereignty for generations to come.

The federal government has already signaled its interest in the proposal – a proposal that may be increasing in appeal in light of the Coastal GasLink opposition by some hereditary chiefs and thousands of environmentalists.
