John Galliano became the chief designer of Givenchy in 1995 (https://youtu.be/UAZkSUkSu0I, https://youtu.be/tTXf-EUeb6k), thus becoming the first British designer to head a French haute couture house, and was in turn promoted to Christian Dior in Oct 1996. On Jan 20, 1997, at 36, his first couture show for Dior also happened to be the house's 50th anniversary.
