Ann Jarris, MD, Leadership Executive MBA Graduate
Ann Jarris, MD
Co-founder and CEO, Discovery Health
Meet Ann Jarris, a 2017 alumna of Seattle U’s Leadership Executive MBA program. An emergency room physician and president of a medical practice when she joined the program, Ann left as the CEO of Discovery Health, a company she launched as part of her capstone project. Her observation that “every time you learn new skills, new opportunities show up” is based on her own experience and the “amazing” access she had to expertise and mentorship through the Executive MBA program.
For Ann, the small class size, executive coaching, and a faculty that really cared and wanted students to be successful made all the difference. Of her experience in the program overall, Ann says, “Seattle University has a way of forcing you to ask yourself the important questions and then guides you along the journey to understand why you’re doing what you’re doing. If you take the time and put the work in, this program will change your life.” She would know—her company, which provides medical risk management services to the maritime industry, has taken off and is one of the few startups recently chosen by the Port of Seattle and WeWork Labs to participate in Washington’s first maritime accelerator.
