See the sheets from the SAME WORKBOOK, side by side, so that you don't have to keep switching between the sheets to see them. Also allows you to make changes where ever you want with no risk that you will need to merge all the changes at some point.
This is also the reason why, when you open an Excel spreadsheet it looks like it opens 2 versions of the same spreadsheet. When you save with the new windows open, it remembers it so the next open will open both views.
