Storms Blas and Celia Struggling in the Pacific - June 19, 2022 Tropical Weather Bulletin

What used to be hurricane Blas is now a weakened tropical storm, losing its convection over the colder waters of the open Pacific. Celia, on the other hand, whilst at tropical storm status yesterday, has weakened substantially today and is now barely hanging on as a tropical depression.

Rain totals across Central America are expected to be elevated to around 6 inches from the latest storm event over the next week as Celia's energy evolves westwards. It is still unknown whether Celia will survive as a tropical cyclone, and could still intensify substantially if it makes it to the area that Blas intensified earlier this week.
