Modern warfare turned out to be an artillery war. The Russian aggression against Ukraine demonstrates: both sides of the conflict use thousands of artillery shells daily. And 'shell hunger' is an essential factor that affects the entire military strategy. And if Russia has to resort to buying shells from the world outsiders: North Korea and Iran; then Ukraine depends on the EU and domestic production. Most of the EU countries are also part of the NATO alliance and they have recently consolidated in of the most important decisions for the security of Europe: to boost shell and ammunition production significantly.
