Why Ukraine’s Request For THAAD Missile Systems From US Has Riled Up Putin’s Russia

Kiev has asked the US to deploy several battalions of US THAAD systems near Kharkov. According to reports in Russia, Ukraine might deploy the American anti-ballistic missile systems near its eastern borders. Russia fears that the system will be used by Kiev and NATO to spy on Russian aerospace activities. While there is no confirmation of deployment in Ukraine, the system will help Kiev to counter Russian air attack in case of a war.
