Ship ATLANTIC HURON at Lock 2, Welland Canal, 2012

The downbound (northbound) ATLANTIC HURON heads into Lock 2, Welland Canal, Nov.19, 2012. You can hear the hull squeaking and squealing along the approach wall. Some dude at 02:14 went ahead and reached out to touch the ship - not a bright idea. This ship was built in 1984 in Collingwood, Ontario, under her original name PRAIRIE HARVEST. In 1988-89 she was converted to a self unloader, and then renamed ATLANTIC HURON in 1989. In 1994 she became the MELVIN H. BAKER II, and in 1997 her name reverted back to Atlantic Huron again.
