In the Lazy Rain

In the Lazy Rain – original song lyrics and music by Jane Harris – arranged by Nick Harris.

I wrote this song very quickly one day whilst out on a walk. I had the title line in my head beforehand – it is actually a ‘found line’ which I’d heard buried deep in the second measure of another, totally unrelated song. I liked the way it rhymed with itself, playful and wistful at the same time. The rest of my lyric then flowed really quickly from that found starting point. It is not autobiographical.
We had the opportunity to record this track at a professional recording studio, The Beehouse Studio, near Oswestry in Shropshire, UK, with expert guidance and technical production from Philip Lane. Thanks Philip. :)
Nick played all the instrument lines, guitar and bass, each time in one take. I sang lead and harmony vocals.
Nick was using his Collings OM2H acoustic guitar and Alembic Epic 6 string bass.
