There are so many outstanding neighborhood choices in the city of Amsterdam it's nearly impossible to pick just four. We've hit the ground hard exploring this city over the last 10 months and put together our top choices. Our home is in Oud(Old) West, and this video covers our neighborhood and also Rivierenbuurt, Oud Zuid, Amerstdam-Oost (Specifically around Oosterpark/Zeeburg and a bit of Plantage). Had we moved into any of these areas sight unseen we would have been thrilled and loving life in this city.

The priorities for our family were proximity to parks, and outdoor spaces for the girls, accessibility to quiet and charming little neighborhood cafes and shops, and distance to girl's school. After living through nearly one school year now, this last concern was so over weighted for us, but we just didn't know the lay of the land before getting here. Amsterdam is a such a relatively small city, everything is so easily accessible by bike, and most of our day to day errands are within a 5 minute radius and an occasional 15 minute ride which would almost put us outside the city in nearly every direction.
