C5 Corvette - “Pull Key, Wait 10 Sec” – Make it go away!!! (with the LMC5)

This C5 2000 Corvette Hardtop has an intermittent, but persistent, DIC message: “Pull Key, Wait 10 Sec”. It has had several steering column lock recalls performed by the Chevy dealer, but the message still persists after all these years. It has the column lock plate removed and it has the K-Harness. This video will show you step-by-step how to permanently fix the problem with a $40 part. This is the fix that GM should have done since this problem affected every C5 made from 1997 thru 2004.

Part = LMC5 Steering Column Lock Module by Compliance Parts, LLC.

BCM Green Connector (aka C3 - 16 pin connector)
Pin A8 = Orange wire, Steering Column Lock Feed, Circuit 1603
Pin A6 = Purple wire, Steering Column Unlock Feed, Circuit 1604

BCM Large Pink Connector (aka C2 – 32 pin connector)
Pin C15 = Light Green wire, Steering Column Lock Signal, Circuit 1601
Pin D14 = Dark Green wire, Steering Column Lock Relay Control, Circuit 911

This car has a 2nd Generation BCM installed by the factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky. This means that it also has a relay above the BCM. We are going to unplug that relay to eliminate another potential point of failure.

Only 2% of the C5 Corvettes will need the “brown wire mod.” This car is one of the 2% that needs it.

Passenger footwell fuses #9, 13, 23, 25, 29, (and 22 if equipped), provide power to the BCM. Each one is a 10 amp mini-fuse.
It is safest to remove the negative connector from the car battery, but at your own risk, you can remove these listed fuses instead.
