Bloc Québécois leader hopes Singh will ‘sincerely apologize’ for racism accusation towards a Bloc MP

Bloc Québécois leader Yves-François Blanchet said on Thursday that he hopes NDP leader Jagmeet Singh will ‘sincerely apologize’ for calling a Bloc member “racist” in the House of Commons on Wednesday.

He added that, if Singh didn’t apologize, he’s looking for the Speaker of the House to take stronger actions to not let people feel they can insult and accuse others without penalties.

Blanchet also called on the media to “explain to Canadians that Bloc members are anything but racists.”

The Bloc leader added that his Twitter account “ironically” is full of English tweets and comments, most of them are insulting or hateful remarks directed against him and his party “because some people want to convey the idea that we are racists.”

NDP leader Jagmeet Singh was ordered to leave the House of Commons on Wednesday after refusing to apologize for calling a Bloc MP "racist" but was allowed back to the house on Thursday.
