Def Leppard fans, I’m so happy to share with you all that I received this France 1988 promo 45, featuring “Love Bites” and B-side “Love and Affection”. It’s perfect and sounds like it was pressed yesterday!

This 45 single has a sticker on it that says “Free sample” and “Cannot be sold”. These are what I’m searching for, along with several other particular items that are rare. These were things one couldn’t buy so easily back in the day, and believe me that I was always looking for anything Def Leppard in the music stores!

This song was written and composed so well. I hear Steve whenever I listen to this song, and I love that he lives on forever in their music.

When this song came out, I was 13 and in the eighth grade in middle school/junior high. How old were you when this song came out, and what are your favorite memories from it? Hopefully it doesn’t remind you of your heartbreaks. When I first heard this song, at age 12, I just loved the way that this song wraps around you. I would listen to it on my Sony Walkman as loudly as I could. I do not have any sad or heartbreaking memories associated with this song because music is my escape, and I do not associate my escapes with sad thoughts.

I remember how huge this song was, and yesterday (9 October) in 1988 marks the day when the song hit number one on the Billboard Hot Chart in the USA. This video played frequently on MTV, and it was the number one breakup song in my middle school. I remember one of my friends coming to me and telling me about her crush rejecting her, and she told me “Love really bites”.
