Big Swimbaits in Winter || 8" Real Prey Silicon Trout = 1 Right Bite

Fishing in winter tends to be slow, and big bait fishing in winter particularly so. In my usual style rather than just cut to the chase I try to capture some of the feeling of putting in a day's work (aka...a 'feature length video'). Lots of the "why, where and how" as well as thoughts on the gear I'm using.

Ultimately it culminates in one last solid bass coming in the 11th hour in 2021 (New Years Eve) here in New Jersey.

Winter fishing is a mixed bag. Almost certainly you will not get a lot of fish. However, with water temperatures stabilized their location and patterns are predictable and consistent. Generally speaking though, what winter lacks in quantity it often makes up for in quality. People sleep on winter's potential for giants. More than half of my best fish have come in water temperatures under 45 degrees.

As someone always pursuing the next giant bass I come out swinging with my biggest lures looking for a cold water giant. From there I progressively step down to smaller and smaller lures.
