Natural Tunnel State Park Virginia Part 1: Camping and Lodging Ruff Road Campground Review
Natural Tunnel State Park located in Duffield, Virginia
Part 1: Camping and Lodging
Ruff Road Campground Review
909 acres! This park is massive! There is so much to share here so Natural Tunnel State Park will be shared in two videos. Part One will cover camping and lodging. Part Two will cover the natural tunnel, historic displays, and trails here.
Natural Tunnel State Park offers the following options for overnight guests:
Primitive Camping
Lover's Leap Campground - site specific, large private sites, 50 amp service
Cove View Campground - non-site specific, older smaller sites, 30 amp service
Cabins
Yurts
We stayed at Cove View Campground, which costs the same as Lover's Leap Campground.
What we love about Natural Tunnel State Park Cove View Campground:
1. Quiet and not crowded during the weekdays.
2. Close to trails
3. Our site, Site 10, overlooked a field of wildflowers.
4. Lots of trails and sites to see
5. Wildlife
6. Scenic, set in the mountains
7. Spotless
8. Verizon service worked, slow at times but we were able to do what we wanted online
What we didn't love about Natural Tunnel State Park Cove View Campground:
1. Pricey for 30 amp, non-residents pay more
2. Hard to level
3. Small sites, no privacy
We aren't complaining though. We were happy to find a site for the amount of days we wanted. As you may know, weekends book up making longer stays difficult. Also, we made the reservations just a few days before so yes, we were happy to find a site!
Stay tuned for more of Natural Tunnel State Park in Virginia.
