No-confidence vote against PNG PM ‘has been expected’

Lowy Institute 2024 FDC Pacific Fellow Oliver Nobetau says a no-confidence vote against Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape “has been expected”.

“There were significant movements that were being made over the weekend, with about 26 MPs, including six ministers, moving from the government to the opposition,” Mr Nobetau told Sky News Australia.

“This is something that has been expected to be coming for a while, so it’s not unexpected at this point.”
