AYAM SABUNG : Pottery Relief Carving

This time I use a carving technique to create an image of fighting rooster in a curve shape clay. This rooster is known as 'Ayam Sabung' in Malaysia and Indonesia. Ayam sabung is a term given to chicken of unknown origin from a specific race or strain that are usually kept free range in rural areas. Even so, there are various titles for village chickens such as ayam botak, ayam bulu balik, ayam selasih, ayam janggut, ayam laga or ayam sabung, ayam togel, ayam katik or ayam Jepun and various other titles according to place and accent.
This chicken is very popular with the local population of other Southeast Asian countries because of its fighting nature. Therefore, keeping this kind of rooster has become a hobby for some people for the purpose of cockfighting activities (Ayam Sabung).
