Celebrating British Railways' change of technology with the phasing-out of coal-powered steam and their replacement with oil-powered and electrified trains and signalling to bring in the modern age of travel.

Filming locations - Crewe Works, Crewe in Cheshire.

92250 - Standard Class 9; 2-10-0 Built 1958 Fitted with Giesl oblong ejector. Cost to build - £33,500.

92144 - Standard Class 9F

Diesels

D202 - Class 40 Built 1958
D5518 - Class 31 - Preserved and under repair.
D5522 - Class 31/1 Preserved and under restoration

Several other locomotives are shown but their numbers can't be seen.
