The low-pressure system has now eased, with the highest tide recorded on the Gold Coast at 2.12 metres at 7:30am yesterday morning, despite the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) issuing a severe weather warning for abnormally high tides down the coast this morning.

Waves have cut right through Bribie Island for the first time in recorded history, while houses have been flooded or severely damaged by falling trees.
