A Tribute to CMSgt Paul Kerchum

Paul Kerchum was one of the Air Force’s most legendary Airmen.

He served 8 years in the Army and 21 in the Air Force.

In 1942, Kerchum survived the Bataan Death March – an event where 75,000 American and Filipino troops surrendered at the Bataan Peninsula in the Philippines, and were then forced to embark on a 65-mile march without any resources. Along the way, thousands of prisoners of war died from the unlivable conditions. Paul Kerchum, however, lived on to tell the story and keep its memory alive.

Kerchum passed away peacefully in December 2022. His memory will prevail with each new generation of the Air Force.
