In-Home Occupational Therapy For Arthritis

Constance Volpe, MS, OTR/L graduated from Touro College in 1998 with an MS in Occupational Therapy. She's worked mainly with the adult and geriatric population in hospitals and nursing homes. Her focus began to switch to In-Home therapy about 15+ years ago when her own parents became elderly and needed her help at home.

Her patient has arthritis in both hands. He doesn't have a full grasp, decreased grip strength, and decreased coordination. He also has vision deficit of macular degeneration. In this video, Constance has her patient assembling nut bolts and washers. This activity is good for a man who was handy around the house. It’s also working on stereognosis (identifying objects through touch).
