Iran-US-Israel War: Trump Spouts 'Core Objectives' After Threatening To Attack Iranian Energy Plants

US President Donald Trump sought to downplay concerns over rising gas prices amid the ongoing war with Iran, stressing that Americans "have so much gas" thanks to his "drill baby, drill" energy policies. He contended that the United States produces more oil and gas than Saudi Arabia and Russia combined and does not depend on the Strait of Hormuz. Trump told other nations that depend on Middle East oil to "grab it and cherish it" themselves, saying they should take the lead in protecting the passage while offering that the US would be helpful but not primarily responsible.

Despite Trump's reassurances, US gas prices this week surged past an average of $4 per gallon for the first time since 2022, driven higher by the continuing conflict with Iran and disruptions in global oil supplies. The last time American drivers faced such high costs at the pump was nearly four years ago, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
