‘Disastrous’ decision by the Obama administration comes back to haunt the US

President Barack Obama’s decision to swap five Taliban members for Bowe Bergdahl was a “disastrous” decision - as four of the five now hold senior positions in the new Afghan government, says the Institute of Public Affairs’ Gideon Rozner.

“When you look at the achievements of Barack Obama and what he did for the United States,” Mr Rozner said.

“I struggle to think of a single thing that amounted from all the hope and change hoopla that we all found so annoying at the time.

“More to the point, he left the US strategically weakened and unfortunately, that’s something that’s only getting worse under the hopelessly inept and not quite all there Joe Biden.”
