Took me like four years to get around to talking about one of my favorite science fiction movies of all time. Oddly feels almost dated now, what with the way AI has taken over the world. But that aside, Ex Machina is not just good sci fi and good drama. It's an excellent example of a bottle movie, or chamber film--a movie that focuses only on a handful of characters in a limited set of environments. Today, I'll share with you how it uses that structure to its tremendous advantage.
