Vandalism and crowd trouble triggered a political storm in West Bengal. Governor C.V. Ananda Bose claimed he was denied entry to the stadium after the violence and termed the incident a failure of governance. The BJP escalated its attack on the Trinamool Congress, with Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari demanding an independent probe and alleging a breakdown of law and order. The TMC, however, countered the claims, with leader Kunal Ghosh alleging the presence of "saffron flags" at the venue.
