Just trains Würzburg.

Würzburg is a small city in the German Land of Bavaria (Bayern). It lies on the river Main, equidistant between Frankfurt and Nürnberg. It has been a religious and educational centre since the Middle Ages.

Compared to many main stations in Germany it has been left fairly unchanged since its 1950 rebuild. In the mid 2000s it was given a face lift; travel centre and BahnCard lounge, and subsequent work on the underground walkways.

In the 1970s the track layout was altered to allow parallel working and increased train lengths required for the new Hanover–Würzburg High-Speed Line. The new arrangement also provided holding lines for 750m freight trains.

Today it’s one of the best places in southern Germany to view freight trains. The city lies on two axis: The major being between Munich and Austria (then Italy & Turkey) and the German North-sea ports (Bremen, Bremerhaven, Hamburg). The somewhat smaller flow is to Cologne and the Benelux ports. A great deal of this traffic is automotive: Daimler from the Stuttgart area, Audi from Ingolstadt and BMW from Munich and Regensburg.
