9 de@d, several !njured as pick-up vehicle coll!des with truck on Ferozepur-Fazilka road

A major road acc!dent in Punjab’s Ferozepur district has left at least 9 people de@d so far and several others seriously !njured.
The incident happened around 5:40 AM on Ferozepur-Fazilka road near Janganwala Morh when a heavily overcrowded pick up vehicle collided head on with a heavy duty truck and nearly 25 people from a family in Jalalabad village were travelling to Beas in Amritsar for last rites and to immerse the ashes of a deceased relative. The impact was so severe that the pick up was badly damaged and dragged on the road and some people d!ed on the spot while others d!ed on the way to hospital.
Around 13 !njured people have been referred to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital in Faridkot for advanced treatment.
