ANNUAL ANTIQUE RESELLERS BRING VINTAGE SPECIALTIES SELDOM SEEN

Nearing the end of a remarkably good Florida antique show season, we prepare for our last show in West Palm Beach, and wonder who among the dealers who come for the giant extravaganza are staying on for my last show.

The fresh dealers congregate for the extrav in an extra building, and we get to see lots of vibrant vintage glass, ceramics, furniture and art, advertising and specialists in Weller Pottery, silver cases, deco lighting and a space filled with nothing but canes and walking sticks!

This group are finders of thus fun and unusual. Lucite lamps and heavily carved Chinese dragon cabinets loom large for interior collectors to ponder, while another dealer from tony Delray Beach wows us with Uzbek textiles, a Georgian map and a French fashion icon. The overflow hall is overflowing with unusual pieces, right down to a case of motorcycle club memorabilia.

Seeing this makes me happy to be packing for one last Florida show for the season! West Palm Beach is a show with decidedly more than run of the mill stuff, and it's exciting to think who and what will be coming this time around.

Canes, swagger sticks, carved folk art, costume jewelry, silver card and cigarette cases, compacts, Motor Maids patch, Gypsy Tour awards, ikat, Aigner photo of LaGuardia, signed Jimi Hendrix album, Victorian garnet jewelry, sporting charms, butterfly wing jewelry, Navajo rings, Italian sgrafitto pottery, Swedish glass console bowl, Loetz vase, Palatnik pelican, Dr. Pepper bottlecap sign and clock, laundry sign, Bradley & Hubbard door stop, etc.
