Philosophic Dialogues from la Frontera 18: Dr. Charles Boehmer

Dr. Charles Boehmer is a Professor of Political Science who earned his Ph.D. in Political Science from The Pennsylvania State University in May, 2002 and joined UTEP that fall. He served as the Chair of the Department of Political Science at UTEP from 2014 to 2021. His main research focus is international relations with expertise areas such as the effects of economics on interstate security and conflict (such as trade, investments, and economic growth), the effects of economics on terrorism, border studies, and the relationships of international organizations to peace. He has published in academic journals such as World Politics, International Organization, Journal of Borderland Studies, and Journal of Peace Research. Dr. Boehmer teaches courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, such as Introduction to Politics, International Security, International Organization and Law, US Foreign Policy, Border Theory, Conflict Analysis, and various courses in research methods. He is a 2013 recipient of the prestigious University of Texas Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award.
