Protecting Your Intellectual Property

When you talk to people about what you do or what you're writing, you need to be very careful that your ideas aren't stolen by your audience. The newer you are to the business of writing, the more vulnerable you are to being scammed. It's a quirk of U.S. copyright law that only the presentation of idea is protected--not the ideas themselves. Every time you share plot lines with others, you are giving them tacit permission to take the good stuff and run with it.
