Today on our 2015 Kia Sorento, we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness with a 4-pole flat trailer connector. Part number is C56256. Now here's what our wiring's going to look like before we get it installed. Here's our main gold, I have a four pole trailer connector to power lights or cargo carrier, whatever we're going to have that connected to. Our red, yellow, brown wire, this is going to run in behind our driver side tail light. Our white wire you can see it's got a ring terminal on it.

We're going to ground that off somewhere underneath the vehicle. The green wire runs over behind our passenger side tail light. Then this is our module box. This is going to convert the signal we get from our lights and send it out to our trailer but this is also going to protect our vehicle's circuity as well as our trailer. There's a last wire we're going to have coming out of that box is going to be a black wire.

That gets tied into our longer bulk pack of black wire that will eventually run through our fuse holder. That will be connected to our battery powering our box. Now to begin our installation, we're going to remove both the driver side and passenger side tail light housing. They're held in there with a couple of small Phillips screws. Once we have both of those out, you want to just pry out gently and release the two tabs, one there, one there. Then we can push in on that small black tab on the bottom side and separate our connector.

Now we'll set those somewhere safe because we're going to putting those back in. Now we're going to take our wiring, our module box, with the exception of that red, yellow and brown wire, and we're going to drop these down into the hole between the rear bumper and the body of the vehicle. Once we've got all that tucked in, we're going to plug our factory connector right in to the female side of the T-1 connector. Then plug the male side into the back of the tail light housing. Give it a good push/pull, make sure it's all connected properly.

Then we can slide our tail light back into position. Now we'll go underneath the vehicle. Now here on our underside we're going to have one, two and three, kind of Phillips head fasteners you have to kind of loosen the Phillips head stud out of the middle lightly until it comes out and then we can pull those out. This one should be a Phillips head fastener too. It looks like it's been replaced by a push pin fastener but you should have four that look just the same here. Once we've got those unthreaded far enough, that fastener should just pull out. Now there's two push fasteners located on this side that we just want to pull down. See, those just pop right in the top part there, here and here. Now let's go over to the passenger side and do the same thing. Now here on the driver side, if we look up in just above that large black wire, we'll see the wiring that we put down through here. Let's go ahead and get this pulled down, just like that and start making all of our connections. Now we're going to get our ground wire connected right off to the stud right here. As you can see, there's painted steel all the way around it so we need to use a file, maybe a screwdriver or what we've got is just a rotary bit here, to kind of bare some steel or kind of get some of that paint off there so we can see a little bit of steel for a good ground connection. Now we'll put our ring terminal up on our stud and we'll start a nut on there. Now the nut's not going to be included, you will have a self-tapping screw which you could run right into one of the body panels there but since we had the nut and the stud was already here and available, we decided to use it rather than drilling another hole. Now we'll grab our roll of black wire, strip the end off of it there, add one of the provided butt connectors, going to crimp it down there, then we can attach it to the black wire coming out of our box. Then we'll wrap that up with a little tape to keep it nice and moisture resistant. Now let's get our green wire routed. I'm going to go right back up kind of where our wires came out of. There's a little reflector back there. I'm going to go right up over the bumper structure. This is going to allow us to keep our wire up nice and high, keep it away from our exhaust and everything as we run it over. We reach in, grab that and bring our green wire plug in right up here where we want to work with it. Just like before, the male end goes in to the female side. Then we'll plug that into the back of the tail light housing. Now we're ready to put it back in place. Now we'll
