What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com Today, we're gonna be checking out Thule T2 Pro X. It's gonna be a platform style bike rack, holds two bikes and it's gonna fit inch and a quarter hitches. Let's check it out. So, before we get into it too far, I wanna go over some highlights I look for in platform style bike racks. So, I'm looking at platform style bike rack, finding out what I like and don't like about all the other ones that I've messed with. So, right away, it's gonna be how it holds the bikes.

Sometimes you got that center rail or that side center post there in the middle where it brings the hook down on the frame. Those work, those just kind of annoy me a little bit because they're usually in the way when you're trying to put a bike on there and get a bike off you have to fold that down or try and go around it. I like the wheel-holds way better right away 'cause I know it's gonna be easy to load and unload it. Another thing to think about if you want that tilt, is how hard that's gonna be because you're gonna put two bikes on here and you're gonna have to tilt it down to the ground. So, I'm thinking of the Kuat Transfer, has a U-shaped design.

It's gotta pedal up here that you'll hit with your foot and that'll lower the bike rack. That's nice because you have that open space but you kinda have to kick back there and hit that pedal that's a little cumbersome. This one has the handle here at the end, that's nice, it's right there, it's gonna be easy to lower it down. But with the height, you do have to worry about kinda being underneath the bike rack. So, those are just some things to think about when you're looking at these platform style bikes, at least this is what I think about 'cause I've messed with quite a few of these actually.

And then another one would be how it installs in the hitch. It's a platform style bike rack. It's gonna be a little bit heavier sometimes than some of the other ones, some can be anyway. But I wanna make sure that it goes in the hitch and installs pretty easily. I don't wanna have a bunch of tools on me to do that every time I need to put that in or take it out.

This one's got a stinger and it's a hand knob at the bottom. So, that's kind of a cool feature right away. I highlight, that I know that I don't need a bunch of tools to put this in or take this out and store in the garage. Something else keep in mind is your wheelbase on your bikes. We have a mountain bike, our road bike aren't here right now. Mountain bikes around 47 inches for the wheelbase. This can handle up to 49. So, that gives you plenty of options on what kind of bikes you can put on here. Not only that, it's the trays are adjustable as well. So, you can go underneath, there's gonna be some screws here you can loosen 'em and slide the tray back and forth, that way, if you have two bikes that are really similar and you have handlebars hitting seats, you can adjust that overall, so slightly, that way it's not in the way and they're not hitting each other. Another thing that can be adjusted is the back cradle here. When you're loading the bike, this can slide back and forth. So, there is plenty of adjustments you can make to make sure your bikes fit on there right. The bike rack also tilts away with both bikes loaded. So, that can be helpful to get to the back hatch if you forgot to throw something in there or you wanna grab some out there and you've already loaded the bikes, you don't have to take them all the way off. But, like I said earlier, it is a highlight of it, how it actually tilts away. So, we come down here to the handle, we're gonna pull the handle. I'm gonna put one hand here on, on to the hooks and just lower the bike rack down like this. So, that's not too bad. You see, it comes down at a pretty good angle, now, this vehicle is low to the ground, so, I am kind of under the bikes, but it's not awful. I've had way worse bike racks that you kind of have to crawl under to lower them down and then it's weird to get up and out from under them. This was not bad. I would just say, when you go to stand up watch out for handlebars, wherever you are. I might clip my shoulder on this one here. So, I just kinda back up and get away from it. Might not seem like that big a deal but with all the different platforms style racks I've worked with, sometimes you can get trapped under there. So this one isn't so bad, I like that the handles are at the end I don't have to come back here and pull a lever and lower it. I can just come right here, open the hatch,
