HOW TO REACH THE CASTLE HILL IN BUDAPEST -- True Guide Budapest
The Buda Castle is located on top of the Castle Hill on the Buda side of the river Danube. Despite its elevated location, it very easy to access.
In this video, I show you 3 "traditional" methods (walking, taking bus #16, taking the funicular), 2 "lazy" methods (taking one of the lifts or an escalator) and 1 "touristy" method.
I. "Traditional" methods:
(1) walking
- steep hill walk starting from the left side of the funicular in Clark Adam ter
- stairs from the other side of the tunnel
- taking a tram to Batthyanyi ter, walking through the square by the left side of the market, little "Paris" square, hidden staircase and lift by the side of the Hilton
(2) take bus #16, 3 stops and you're there
(3) Funicular / Cable car (we call it "Sikló" that stands for "water snake"), be prepared for long queues
II. "Lazy" methods:
(1) Take one of the lifts
Murat Pasha Bastion: GPS 47.503715, 19.033587
School Stairs (Iskola Lepcso): GPS 47.503715, 19.033587
Granit Stairs (Granit Lepcso): GPS 47.500522, 19.032373
(2) Take an escalator from the Castle Bazaar (short walk from Clark Ádám tér)
III. Touristy method
The "Official" (why is it "official??) oversized golf carts are a possibility.
--------------
I am a proud local Hungarian living in Budapest.
I was born and have lived in this beautiful city, Budapest for decades. I am in love with it - and not because I haven’t seen anything else. I am a seasoned traveller and I have also spent many years living abroad. However, my heart (and wife, and jobs and goulash soup and lángos) have pulled me back to my birth town. I love this city and know it inside out.
If you are fed up with the formal (and often wrong) recommendations of guide books, then follow my channel to find advice from a real local. I give you practical tips, show you cool spots and help you avoid tourist traps.
I live and love Budapest, I want to share my tips with you.
