Skoda & Mercedes Set To Build EVs In India | European Giants Back ‘Make in India’ Push

After Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy clears that Tesla is not planning to manufacture EVs in India. European car giants like Mercedes, Kia, Hyundai, Volkswagen and Skoda have expressed their interest in India's new EV policy and are looking to announce investment plans to manufacture electric vehicles in India. Talking with India Today, Business Today TV's Chetan Bhutani breaks down India's new EV policy and how it benefits the foreign automobile giants. India's new EV policy says if you start investing in manufacturing in India, they will be benefited with reduced import duties from 60-70 odd percent , flat duty of 15 percent provided you have to make a certain amount of investment which is close to ₹ 4,120 crore. The portal to apply for investment will be open shortly, open for 120 days.
