Put it through he Chipper! Woodchip is sought after by allotment owners and home composters. It makes great mulch once it's broken down a bit too! On www.Arbtalk.com they have compiled a network of sites across the UK where you can take woodchip for free! a quick post to a local Facebook group will also have people fighting over it!

Garden shredders are OK but if you've ever tried to put leafy material through you know how frustrating it is. If you have a lot to process it takes HOURS! Owning a big chipper is also a problem unless you use it all the time. You have to service it and have somewhere to securely store it. That's why I try and hire. I used to have problems with using tired old kit or having to spend a lot to get a road towable version. I tried the gravity fed ones but they get jammed up quickly and shoot the chips straight onto the ground.

This Eliet Super Pro was a great compromise. I hired it from Boels rental and they dropped and collected same day so I didn't have to store or transport it anywhere. This is really useful if you can't get it into the garden!
