The Cheapest Way to Buy Plants

Growing from seeds and cuttings isn't always practical or possible.
That's especially true if you want a specific cultivar or if you need grafted plants.

Many believe that all plants come grown in pots. The advantage of bare root plants is that they can cheaply be propagated in a field, dug up while dormant and delivered. They take up hardly any room and you can buy many hundreds that will fit into a cardboard box for delivery.

They can only be planted between Nov-Mar in the UK so a bit of planning and forethought needs to go in.

Planting a hedge or garden this way means:
No Peat based media has to be used
Transport costs are low and the plants are considerably lighter, requiring less fuel to be used for delivering them.
There is much greater variety to choose from because their ease of transport means they can be sourced from suppliers nationwide.

Smaller plants have a better survival rate too and in the end these will soon catch up with their more expensive counterparts.

Happy Planting!
