Val's talk will bring to light the alarmingly large number of Americans experiencing unjust treatment due to our country's overcrowded, counterproductive prison system. Val will share her story and contextualize relevant statistics to bring our attention to the urgency of reform at the policy level and data-driven decision making to address injustices in our prison system today. Val is currently a senior at IMSA who has done a lot of advocacy work and research in the IMSA and Aurora community, spreading awareness through clubs and organizations like SCRJ of corruption and disparities in the US Criminal Justice System.
