Fishermen Risk Their Lives for This $80 Shellfish

Goose barnacles are some of the most valuable shellfish in China—and some of the most dangerous to harvest.

A pound of goose barnacles can fetch up to $80 a pound, but they can only be harvested wild and during low tide. Pick the wrong time, and the ocean could sweep you away.

We met some fishermen in Yangyu, a small island off the east coast of China, who make a living off fish farms and collecting shellfish.
