How To: Engine Leaning and Supplemental Oxygen

This is a requested video by some of my viewers. I've had lots of questions on my use of supplemental oxygen, and how to properly lean an engine at altitude. While the use of O2 is pretty straightforward, there's not a one-size-fits-all solution to engine management. In this video I discuss the many differing methods and opinions around engine leaning and conclude with my own.

I find that some people expect leaning will somehow restore the sea level performance to their engine. This is simply not the case. Pilots should expect to have significantly less power at altitude and use good judgement, proper planning, and mountain flying techniques to compensate for this lack of performance. This is sure to stir up a healthy debate so let the comments begin...

In closing, I try to make these videos equally digestible to someone with no experience as to someone with thousands of hours. It's a difficult line to walk and I welcome feedback on the content within these videos and my delivery of the subject.
