Haiti: An Island Adrift I Haiti Earthquake I ARTE Documentary
WATCH 'Haiti: 10 Years After the Earthquake' - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnKXQBiC2HE
At 4:53 p.m. on a Tuesday, January 12, 2010, more than half of Port au Prince was destroyed. The Haiti earthquake killed more than 230,000 people and injured thousands more. 1.3 million Haitians were left homeless. The international community poured aid into the country - but some now say that it had little impact.
During the holidays there should be a lot going on at Port-au-Prince. But only a few dare venture outside. Barricades block the main roads in the centre. People can get through on foot or with a motorcycle but cars, a symbol of prosperity, are not welcome. People in this poor district are demonstrating against the president. They are accusing him of corruption, like his predecessor. Get more on Haiti news from ARTE.
