Flying Boat - Mike Smith, first to fly round the world with a single engine.

It is a tiny, kit built seaplane. The pilot is Michael Smith, the owner of The Sun Theatre in Melbourne, who has just become the first person to fly solo around the globe in a single-engine flying boat. Modest Mike has kept this marvellous feat pretty low key. Most of the people on hand to greet him in this clip are family & friends.
In this journey Mike has flown 83 flights, stopping in 25 different countries, taking over seven months to arrive back home on this windy Melbourne afternoon.

A SEAPLANE is a plane that can take off & land on water.
- A FLYING BOAT - is a subset of "seaplane". It gets buoyancy from its hull (the hull is in the water). This is what Mike was flying.
- A FLOATPLANE - is also a subset of "seaplane". It gets buoyancy from its floats (the hull does not touch the water).
