Closing the loop: algae to become biomass at 'Hooge Maey'

On the state-of-the-art landfill site 'Hooge Maey', project group 'Alchemis' examines how algae can be produced based on flue gases and waste water and how they can be turned into high-value raw materials for the chemical industry. This project won the first prize at the Flanders Cleantech Festival 2011, allowing the team to produce a promotional film.

'Alchemis' onderzoekt op de state-of-the-art stortplaats 'Hooge Maey' hoe algen, gekweekt op basis van rookgassen en afvalwater, kunnen omgezet worden in waardevolle grondstof voor de chemische industrie. Het project won eind 2011 op het Cleantechfestival de prijs voor het beste MIP2 project. De prijs hield de productie van een promotiefilm in.
