Día de los Muertos 2019: Flor de Toloache
The 2019 Day of the Dead/Día de los Muertos celebration at the National Museum of the American Indian began with an after-hours party that featured a performance by the Grammy-winning, all-woman mariachi band Flor de Toloache.
The Day of the Dead is a festival celebrated by people in Mexico, parts of Central and South America, and many Latino communities across the United States as a way to honor family and friends who have passed away. The tradition originates from the Indigenous cultures of Mesoamerica, including the Mexica (Aztec) and Maya.
This performance was webcast and recorded in the Potomac Atrium of the National Museum of the American Indian on November 1, 2019.
