The science behind making fake blood

Did you know that fake blood is used to test how well surgical masks perform in a hospital setting?
Most people don’t, but at the University of South Australia they have got artificial blood making down to a fine art, using it to ensure masks are 100 per cent safe for frontline health workers. The UniSA facility is financially supported by the State Government.
