In Defense Of The Silent Hill Movie

In Defense of The Silent Hill Movie, it’s actually pretty good and enjoyable despite all its changes from the original iconic Silent Hill game…I know, this is probably my hottest take yet.

The 2006 Silent Hill movie is a continually criticized video game adaptation movie due to the fact that it doesn’t fully follow the original story of the game Silent Hill, as well as many other criticisms that I myself share regarding the movie. Despite this and many other issues I take with the Silent Hill movie that stem from my love of the games…I have to say that the Silent Hill movie is arguably still pretty good for a video game movie, and that it more so falls in line with being a reimagining of the first Silent Hill game than an actual beat per beat adaptation of the iconic horror game.

In fact, i'd argue that my love for the Silent Hill games was sparked BY the Silent Hill movie, and without the movie I would have either never found out about the games or at least wouldn’t have found out about them till way later in my life.

So join me in this little delusional video essay and analysis on the Silent Hill movie and game, discussion on why I think the Silent Hill movie is pretty great despite all its flaws, and why it’s a genuinely enjoyable movie.
