How to grow beets? (Harvest & Processing video)

In this video, I am harvesting and processing my Beets, grown in the 8ft long and 4ft wide raised bed.

Beets do great in the garden when the summer heat has passed. I usually grow them in the mid-spring or early fall. I started these beets directly in the raised bed by sowing them 3 inches apart and half an inch deep. During the planting time, I give a gentle feed of phosphorous rich organic fertilizer and no fertilizer after that.

There are two different varieties that I grew (Detroit Red, Bulls Blood).

Time and Cost:
I started the seeds in the first week of September and harvested them on November 27. So it took close to 2 and a half months.

I live in gardening zone 6B with a growing season of 161 days from May 1 to Oct 10.

Cost of materials:
$6 for beet seeds
Grown in a mixture of 70% compost and 30% topsoil in the raised bed

My camera:
Google Pixel 3XL

If you have any questions about the seeds, materials, or the process I’m using, please ask me in the comments. I read them all and I will try to reply as soon as possible.

Thank you for watching!
