How to grow Turmeric? (Harvest Video)

In this video, I am harvesting my Turmeric that has been growing in the 5 gallon buckets.

Turmeric being a tropical plant, grows best in warmer climates. However, they can be grown in containers from Zone 5-7 and can be grown in the ground in the Zones 8 and up.

I will be regrowing the Turmeric from this harvest along with the seed turmeric. If you are trying it for the first time, just remember Turmeric takes a long time to germinate. I saw the first shoots on the day 60.

Time and Cost:
I started this turmeric indoors on February 29 and harvested them November 27. So it took total of 9 Months. I transplanted the turmeric out in the containers in the beginning of June, when the night time temperatures were consistently above 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

I live in gardening zone 6B with a growing season of 161 days from May 1 to Oct 10.

Cost of materials:
$15 for seed turmeric (variety - Indira Yellow)
Grown in 100% compost

My camera:
Google Pixel 3XL

If you have any questions about the seeds, materials, or the process I’m using, please ask me in the comments. I read them all and I will try to reply as soon as possible.

Thank you for watching!
