Test Drive Numbers Matching 1971 Camaro RS/SS SOLD Classic Car Addict
Classic Car Addict is excited to present this beautiful numbers matching 1971 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS with rare factory split bumper for sale in our Mesa, AZ showroom. This classic Camaro is original in all of the right places and that’s why we love this RS/SS with a strong V8 and bright paint.
If you’ve ever been a Camaro owner, you know what the RS, SS and Z28 mean. RS means “Rally Sport” and for the second gen Camaro, its package was designed to add a different look. It is identified by the with split bumper, so the grill stood alone and parking lights between the headlamps. This option could be ordered with the SS and the Z-28. SS means “Super Sport” that was originally offered with a standard 350 motor. Model is denoted with SS trim markings in the blacked-out grill and dual chrome exhaust. The 396 cars had a heavy-duty suspension.
This coupe was recently repainted in the same spirit of the original 11 (Antique white), but the factory never made it look this good. The shine of the modern clearcoat gives this car a new depth that will make onlookers go WOW. From the factory, this Camaro was white with black SS strips and had a black vinyl top. But later in life, it had some amazing changes. The deep chin spoiler appears like it's out to clean up the streets. The wide grille in between the slender chrome side bumpers, which defines the high-performance early 2nd gen F-bodies is another fan favorite (because everyone loves a split bumper right). Balancing out the aggressive front, the spoiler carries the stripes with pride as it covers the rear end.
The interior has all the best appearance of a stock attitude. Slide into those supportive black cloth buckets, and you're treated to one of the best interiors of the 1970’s. The gauge panel wraps around the driver like a cockpit, with a full array of factory instruments. The headliner, carpets, and door panels are all original. This Camaro is meant to leave you wanting for nothing, and so it has great features like factory AC that has been converted to R134 and a factory AM stereo that keep the original knob-style appearance. Radio works, horn works, wipers work, and lights work. As the driver, you get to grab an original SS steering wheel with your left hand, but you'll notice that in the factory center console, you have the original horseshoe shifter.
If you like the white and brandywine exterior, you're going to love what’s under the hood. The numbers matching 350 cubic-inch Chevy small block V8 engine block number 3970010, casting number V0819CJD and matching VIN 501352. But besides just looking fantastic, this motor is backed up by components such as a four-barrel carburetor and it retains the factory exhaust manifold. And the factory belt system keeps everything tidy under the hood and looking great. There's real power behind you while the dual exhaust has a healthy rumble. But don't just listen to the car's roar; investigate where it comes from. With low miles and being numbers matching, you'll still want to take this Camaro out on the road thanks to great driving features such as the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, front disc brakes, and American Racing rims.
